Anaphoric epithet

Anaphoric epithet is a R-expression whose reference depends anaphorically upon some other element.

Examples

The intended co-referentiality in (i) turns the bastard into an anaphoric epithet. In (ii), the epithet the idiot is interpreted as a bound variable.

(i) [John'si father] should have sent the bastardi to reform school.

(ii) Every boy'si father sends the idioti to school.
