In phonetics and phonology, a continuant is a feature which characterizes phonemes that are produced without complete closure in the vocal tract, allowing the air stream to continue.

In Dutch vowels, fricatives and the phonemes /h/, /j/, /w/, /l/, /r/ are continuants.
