Although I'm sure the point of this is to not become an overly simplistic 'speak and spell' I'd like to think that the 'basic' parts of speech should be described, at first, with basic terms. What is a noun? A noun is word that names some thing; a person, a place, a quality, a thing, or an idea.

The definition given here now, although accurate, is not easily understood.

This being my first post I don't think I have the right to go around changing other peoples works herein but would like to at least provide a suggestion for this:

A noun is word that names some thing; a person, a place, a quality, or an object.
