Pseudo-compound is notion used in Trommelen & Zonneveld (1989) to refer to compound-like words where at least one of the constituents is not a free morpheme in isolation.

Example

The Dutch words antwoord 'answer' and eerbied 'respect' contain the words woord 'word' and eer 'honor', respectively, while the forms ant and bied are not actual words of Dutch.
