A foreignism is a loanword that has not been adapted and integrated into the recipient language at all and that is not (yet) perceived as belonging to it fully. Thus, a foreignism can be said to be intermediate between an established loanword and and a singly occurring codeswitch, although the term foreignism tends to be used when the recipient language community is not bilingual in the donor language.
